Onomatopoeia is the process of creating or using words that phonetically imitate, resemble, or suggest the sound that they describe (e.g., buzz, hiss, meow, or boom). It is commonly used in poetry, comic books, and everyday speech to make descriptions more vivid and immersive.

Common Categories and Examples

Impact Sounds: 

Words mimicking collisions or sudden hits, such as bang, crash, thud, whack, and slap.

Animal Noises: Words that vocalize sounds creatures make, like oink, moo, chirp, quack, and cock-a-doodle-doo.

Water and Air : Sounds associated with liquids and movement, including splash, sizzle, hiss, swish, and whoosh.

Vocal Sounds: Human noises like giggle, hiccup, whisper, mumble, and yawn.

                                 Pun 

A pun is a playful figure of speech involving wordplay that exploits multiple meanings of a term or similar-sounding words for a humorous or rhetorical effect. It works by suggesting two distinct meanings—either from the same word or two words that sound identical.
