Satan Entering Eden Garden

In Book IX of Paradise Lost Milton deals with the wicked, hatred behaviour of Adam and Eve. This books brings the God's pronouncement of Judgement against human being. Paradise a place of happiness turns dark. Man's sin has brought destruction for paradise. Milton feels sad to describe the fall of man. Yet he considers this theme sublime.

In Book IV Gabriel, the God's messenger drives Satan from Eden. Satan being fradulent and wicked decides to destroy Adam and Eve, the God's creation. Satan decides the re-enter the Eden garden. He enters the garden during the night time and find a safe place in the paradise.

Satan examines each creatures in the Eden Garden. He plans to conceal himself in the body of a snake. Snakes has got evil nature and no one will suspect the serpent. Satan envies the earth created by God. He calls the earth free from imperfections of his earlier creations. Satan grew jealous by seeing the glorious place created for Adam and Eve. By seeing the herbs, plants, noble creatures, vegetables, rivers, forest, shores, rocks, dens, caves, he feels excited. Then he realizes that he has not come to stay in heaven or earth. His only intention is to dethrone God. He can get peace only by destroying mankind.

God has taken six days to create this world and the Satan plans to destroy within six days. Entering the body of the serpent Satan feels degraded. His ambition and revenge on God has brought him to a very lower level. Satan generalizes that he who tries to rise with bad intention will fall low. Satan does not worry in destroying Adam and Eve.
