What is a Noun?
A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, animal, idea, or quality. Nouns are one of the basic building blocks of language.
Types of Nouns
1. Common Nouns
Definition: Name general, non-specific things, people, or places.
Examples: city, girl, teacher, dog, country
2. Proper Nouns
Definition: Name specific people, places, or things (always capitalized).
Examples: New York, Sarah, Mount Everest, Coca-Cola
3. Concrete Nouns
Definition: Name things you can perceive with your five senses (see, hear, touch, taste, or smell).
Examples: apple, music, rain, perfume
4. Abstract Nouns
Definition: Name ideas, qualities, or states rather than physical objects.
Examples: love, courage, happiness, freedom
5. Countable Nouns
Definition: Nouns that can be counted (can be singular or plural).
