Writing a script is a unique role in the world of drama. This unique role is performed by Scriptwriters who write and develop screenplays for film or TV drama. They are  talented people in creating  characters, dialogue and writing  plot. They collaborate with producers, directors and actors to draft and redraft their script..

A Scriptwriter is accountable for explaining the story in detail with the things happening around the character. They write alone to develop their scripts. These writers are solitary creators who enjoys artistic freedom to express their thoughts and ideas. To write plays, a script writer must consider the limited staging area and the fact that most of the story is told in dialog.  Alfred Hitchcock said,

          “To make a great film you need three things — the script, the script, and the script.”

A script writer is a keen observer of mankind. He pays great attention to people’s behaviour and speech. He can draw inspiration from these observations when he begins to write his script. He reads books, magazine and newspaper to gather ideas for the script. He has the talent to discover the stories in advance with the help of his reading people’s mind.

Qualities of a script writer: A good script writer has an excellent writing skill, spelling, and  grammar. They are extremely creative, and can easily bring ideas to life. They know how to create scripts for different occasions in various tones of voice. He is aware about the industry requirements for TV, films, theatre, and business videos. A scriptwriter should be

·       Persistent

·       Flexible

·       Knowledgeable

·       Consistent

·       Skilled in writing

 

A script writer is a person in charge of guiding the work from the beginning to the end of the script.
