Freelance writing is the practice of writing for money. “A freelance writer is someone who writes blog posts, nonfiction articles and web copy for magazines, publications, companies and other [organizations],” . They can work for just one magazine or, more often, they write for several different publications at a time. The more diverse a writer can be, the more likely they are to be published and paid for their work.

Freelance writers are also marketing themselves and their skills to potential clients. These writers are often business owners. The successful freelance writer is  a combination of creative wordsmith and shrewd businessperson. Writing well is just the start. Ideas overflow from a tranquil mind. A calm mind is the mother of all creative ideas. The writers must cast aside envy, pride, greed, anger, and other baser emotions.

How to become a Freelance writer:

1. Choose a niche: Identify some general topics that you’d like to write about. You can write about a variety of topics or choose from your field. Can write about things in which we are passionate about. It can be about

    • Parenting
    • Marriage
    • Personal finance
    • Fitness     

2. Choose blogging :  There are  different types of freelancing. Blogging is a good start for freelancers.

    • For example, Can write about social issues.
    • Blog posts can make a great addition to your portfolio when you’re starting out as a new freelance writer.      

3.  Seek out journalism assignment: This is a good choice to earn money. Instead of writing we need to seek out assignments. Contact editors at news sites, papers, and magazines and pitch your ideas. This is a good choice for freelancers who already have media connections.

4. Focus on copywriting if you have a flair for marketing. "    

5. Explore technical writing if you're great with details. 

A freelance writing career needs hard work, good time management skills, and the ability face criticisms. It is one of the best ways to make money online because it's flexible work that often pays well.

  Like an Old Proud King in a Parable A. J.M. Smith The Poem Like an Old Proud King in a Parable was written by the Canadian Poet, A.J.M Smith. This poem appeared in McGill Fortnightly Review in the year 1926. In this poem Smith narrates the story of an Old King who abandons his Kingdom to become a poet. This poem depicts the poetic career of Smith. Smith breaks some of the old poetic conventions and brings novelty into the society. A king is bored to forego the pleasure of the Kingdom.    THE ECSTASY OF RITA JOE George Ryga’s , The Ecstasy of Rita Joe is a play about a young Indian girl who comes to the city with great dreams. Her dreams get scattered as she enters the city Vancouver.  Sh e becomes one of the victims of the white man’s violence and control. The Ecstasy of Rita Joe describes the cruel life in the city for the native Canadians, as experienced by Rita Joe. This play explores the supremacy of the Whites towards the native Canadians. The protagonist of this play Rita Joe faces a world of prostitution and abuse. In the beginning act the magistrate reads over the charges levied upon Rita Joe. She is charged for prostitution, assault, stealing, vagrancy, shop lifting and for transmitting sexual diseases. The action of the play develops through the character of Rita Joe. Ryga uses flashback technique to narrate the story of Rita Joe.        Rita has lived in the reservation during her childhood days along with her sister Elieen and father  David Joe.
